SECOND HARVEST NORTHERN LAKES FOOD BANK “MEETS ALL STANDARDS” SEAL
By Lisa Kane
Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank announces that it has been awarded the charities Review Council “Meets All Standards” Seal indicating that it meets all sixteen of its Accountability Standards. Nonprofit organizations such as Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank earn the Seal by voluntarily participating in the Council’s online Accountability Wizard. “It is a wonderful opportunity for non-profits like ours to regularly assess our standards of accountability”, said Executive Director Shaye Moris.
By participating in the Accountability Wizard, nonprofit organizations can demonstrate responsibility, integrity and transparency to their constituents. “We have an obligation to our donor public to do participate in this type of exercise”, Moris said. “We were pleased to be awarded the Charity Review Council’s seal because it allows us to show the community our commitment to accountability and transparency.” As the region’s only food bank, Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank rescues 2.5 million pounds of nationally and regionally donated food for distribution to 140 regional nonprofit programs located throughout its northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin service region annually.
