7th Anniversary of U.S. -Irqai war

On Friday, Mar. 19, area residents will mark the seventh anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq with three anti-war pickets. Protesters will call for an immediate end to U.S. military intervention in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The pickets will take place:

* 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Grand Ave. and Central Ave.
* 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mesaba Ave. and Central Entrance
* 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Lake Ave. and Superior St.

The protests are sponsored by the Northland Anti-War Coalition. "Our goal is to raise the anti-war banner high to remind the public that the war is still being waged, and show that there is still a vibrant anti-war movement for them to join," says a NAWC statement. "Instead of war, we will demand funds so that every person can have a job, free and universal health care, decent schools, and affordable housing."
